On the occasion of Remembrance Day 2024, screening organised by the Municipality of Lucca in collaboration with Cineforum Ezechiele 25.17 and Lucca Cinema present THE LAST TIME WE WERE CHILDREN by Claudio Bisio, Italy 2023 In the summer of 1943, war grips Rome and bombs explode all around. In this scenario, four children share a great friendship. They come from different families: Italo is the son of the Federal, Cosimo's father is in exile, Vanda is an orphan, Riccardo comes from a Jewish family But the four ignore the differences between them and play an imaginative war in the courtyard made up of missions and adventures. When Riccardo disappears, the three decide to leave in secret to bring him home. The game thus merges with reality, and the three children travel alone in an Italy exhausted by war. Equipped with the recklessness typical of childhood, Cosimo, Italo and Vanda carry on their mission, between play and terror, childish poetry and deprivation, discovery of life and a freedom paid at a high price.
