  • Cinema Centrale 36 Via di Poggio Lucca, Toscana, 55100 Italy (map)

Klimt's Kiss, the documentary directed by Ali Ray, explores the mystery behind the phenomenon of the Kiss, an iconic work by Gustav Klimt, painted in 1908. (In Italian)

The artist, known for his painting technique that used natural gold leaf, never imagined that this painting, which combines symbolism and eroticism, could one day become a universal and timeless pop icon. Klimt is considered a controversial artist for his time, born in the suburbs of Vienna, he expressed in his painting a mixture of decadence and sensuality that characterized his entire artistic production. The beauty and mystery of the female body are the absolute protagonists of its golden period, as well as of the very famous Kiss. This documentary analyzes and studies this painting in depth, retracing the life of Gustav Klimt and the streets of his Vienna, between the 19th and 20th centuries. Era in which the old world gives way to modernity. MORE INFO. Also screening January 31st at 5pm
