A journey into the heart of the political and institutional life of the city, which starts in 1949, the year in which Alcide Tosi, a student of the most successful photographers of the time, Benetti, Ghilardi and Cortopassi, opened his first photographic studio in via Fillungo, becoming well soon a point of reference for the local newspapers of the time, La Nazione, Il Nuovo Corriere and Il Mattino dell'Italia Centrale, for which he took shots that will forever fix events, facts and characters linked to the events of Lucca. On display, until 31 October in Palazzo Guinigi, 350 black and white and colour shots, arranged in chronological order and divided by decades, from 1950 to today.
At the opening the photographs dedicated to the visits to the city of Lucca by 4 presidents of the Republic: Gronchi, Cossiga, Ciampi and Mattarella, at the end the shot of the mayor of Lucca Pardini together with Dustin Hoffman in the municipal headquarters.
In between, the main events of the political and institutional life of Lucca, told with an attentive and disenchanted gaze by Alcide Tosi first and then by his sons Mimmo and Claudio. Faces and characters visiting the city, such as Jacqueline Kennedy, Pope Wojtyla, the Queen Mother and Charles of England, the French presidents Giscard d'Estaing and Mitterrand, the prime ministers Moro, Craxi, D'Alema, Dini, Berlusconi, Prodi and Renzi.
