Eighteenth-century music in Lucca is a project whose aim is the valorisation and dissemination of the eighteenth-century musical heritage. In this context, Lucca occupies a place of particular importance, both for the very high quality of its musical life in the 18th century and for the quantity of leading artists that the city provided to Europe and the whole world. However, the eighteenth century Lucca is not proposed, in the context of this project, as an isolated phenomenon or, even worse, as an object of parochial worship, but rather as a cultural manifestation of maximum vitality in the context of the century that was of Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Haydn , Mozart; and which had a universal artistic language in Italian opera.
