The blessing of the animals returns on Sunday (19 January) at 3pm to the church of S.Pietro Somaldi, on the anniversary of S.Antonio Abate, organized by Anpana (National Association for the Protection of Animals, Nature and the Environment) section of Lucca in collaboration with the 'Archdiocese of Lucca.

The rite, officiated by the Archbishop of Lucca Paolo Giulietti, now in its eleventh edition, was brought back to our city, after decades, by Anpana volunteers and has become an event increasingly felt by the population.

The tradition of the 'blessing of animals' represents a significant proposal in the logic of respect for every living creature and in the search for harmonious coexistence. The volunteer organizers remind us that all animals must be looked after adequately (cats in carriers, dogs on a leash, birds in cages, etc.).
