The race, organized by the Lucca Marathon association, represents one of the most eagerly awaited events for runners and running enthusiasts for a day of sport and nature. The course goes along the Walls, the green lung of the city, the most popular streets and squares of the historic center and climbs back up the city walls to reach the finish line. The circuit is flat, asphalted and entirely closed to traffic, suitable for expert middle-distance runners and amateur walkers. A ring of 4,223 metres, corresponding to the classic tour of the Walls, traveled twice, for a total distance of 21,097 metres.
