An absolute first: a show in which theatre, dance, live music, opera and contemporary circus dialogue and intertwine on the stage, to create a new work on the occasion of the centenary of the death of Giacomo Puccini, one of the greatest musical composers of Always. Puccini Dance Circus Opera – for choir of bodies and instruments – is a project born from a co-production between Orchestra della Toscana, Compagnia blucinQue, Teatro del Giglio in Lucca and Teatro Regio in Parma. It brings eleven women on stage (5 performers, a string trio, an electronic musician directed by the director, an orchestra conductor), an orchestra of 45 musicians, bringing out the characteristics of five female icons from the composer's works: Manon Lescaut, La Bohème, Tosca, Madame Butterfly and Turandot. The show - which was staged on 24 and 25 June at the Caracalla Festival in a reduced version without orchestra - makes its debut in the orchestral version with music specially arranged by Francesco Oliveto, and performed by the Orchestra della Toscana conducted by Gianna Fratta.
