Poetry Slam

  • Biblioteca Agora 6 Via delle Trombe Lucca, Toscana, 55100 Italy (map)

Slam Poetry: a verse challenge! 6 poets/performers will get involved, using only their voice and body, in a unique and engaging show. Do you want to participate too? The contest is open to anyone who wants to sign up! Join and experience the power of the word. Organized by the Ripescati dalla Piena Association and Le Macchine Celibi.

The 𝐏𝐨𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐥𝐚𝐦 is a show of oral and performative poetry in the form of a competition, in which poets/performers compete in a participatory game in front of the audience present in the room who decides who will win the competition. The rules are few and simple: only your own lyrics, no clothes or props, no music, only 3 minutes for each performance. A popular jury made up of 5 people drawn by lot from the public will vote with a number from 0 to 10 for each performance according to a single parameter: what the poem conveys to you. This movement is coordinated by LIPS, Italian Poetry Slam League, in a large national championship divided by regions. As Masters of Ceremony, the competition will be conducted by Ripescati dalla Piena, a collective made up of 6 artists (Andrea Mitri, Gabriele Bonafoni, Marco Dell'Omo, Matteo Mazzoni, Max Di Mario and Serena Iacobino) with a common focus on poetry which since 2021 has been organizing events, festivals and shows in Florence, Tuscany throughout Italy and in Brussels.

Send an email containing name, surname, contact (email or telephone) and 2 poems and a short biography attached to fishcatidallapiena@gmail.com.

Each participant will have 3 minutes to perform for each round. All participants will perform at least 2 times. Whoever has achieved the highest scores from the sum of the previous rounds will compete in the final round (therefore bring at least 3 poems).

All poems must be the work of the candidate. No objects, costumes or incidental music are allowed on stage. Only body and voice. It is permitted to bring paper or a phone/tablet to read your own songs MORE INFO
