Associazione Musicale Lucchese presents Pietro de Maria (pianoforte) in concert as part of their 2024 concert season at the Boccherini Auditorium performing music by F. J. Haydn, F. Liszt, F. Liszt/F. Schubert, L. van Beethoven.
The autumn concerts begin with the very welcome return of pianist Pietro De Maria, who will perform on Saturday 12 October at 5.30pm with an intense and refined programme. The concert opens with the extraordinary Sonata in E minor Hob.XVI:34 (n. 53) by Franz Josef Haydn. We continue with Liszt, of which it will be possible to listen to the Soirées de Vienne, nine waltz-capriccios that evoke the atmosphere of Schubert's Vienna, and Three Lieder by Schubert transcribed for solo piano. Finally, it will be Beethoven's turn with the Sonata in C minor op. 111, the last one composed by the musician.
De Maria's concert is included in the Season subscription and replaces the one initially scheduled for October 13th, conducted by Egisto Matteucci with the Polifonica Lucchese, which will be rescheduled on a date to be determined.

'De Maria’s playing abounds in a quality that seems to be virtually a trademark of the best Italian musicians… : long-lined lyricism.
In the Schubert, not one melodic phrase, inner voice or bass line was allowed to be unlyrical. Even passagework was lyrically shaped.
Everything sang and breathed.'
