“Note a margine” is a sort of autobiographical story, commissioned to Nicola Piovani by the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 (with the title “Leçon Concert”). It is a show in which Piovani shares with the audience experiences, memories and emotions from over forty years of career. In the wake of memories and anecdotes, the Maestro retraces some great encounters that have marked his path, from Federico Fellini, fondly remembered for his little obsessions and his mastery as a director, from the Tavianis to Vincenzo Cerami and Roberto Benigni, with episodes narrated with lightness and sincerity. Life experiences between music, cinema, theater that Piovani recounts accompanying them with the notes of his piano, together with the saxophone and the double bass. Telling in music helps to understand the meaning of Piovani's story, who underlined «I don't remember a single moment in my life in which there was no music».
