Gregorian Chant Choir Concert

  • Chiesa San Pietro Somaldi Piazza San Pietro Somaldi Lucca, Toscana, 55100 Italy (map)

The Viri Galilaei Gregorian chant choir was founded in 1985 thanks to the initiative of the current director Enzo Ventroni. The choir's activity developed in the first years, favoring the activity of assistance in the liturgy and in vocal and interpretive training, in direct contact with the monastic environments and following the specialized courses of the Aiscgre in Cremona.

Starting from the early nineties, the choir undertook an intense concert activity, in collaboration first with the Opera del Duomo, then with the Opera di Santa Croce and with the Municipality of Florence.

Among the other concerts, we remember: the opening concert of the first edition of the O Flos Colende festival on 25 March 1997 in the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence; on 22 April 1999 the choir participated in the inauguration of the new lighting system in the Baptistery of Florence during Giorgio Albertazzi's show, directed by Maestro Cauteruccio.
