It will be a one-of-a-kind event, in the evocative scenery of the Garfagnana lakes, which will allow participants to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The first edition of the "Granfondo dei Laghi della Garfagnana" starts on Sunday 21 July, the competitive cycling race - with "neutralised" sections of the route - which crosses the lakes of Villa, in the municipality of Villa Collemandina, of Vicaglia, in the municipality of Sillano -Giuncugnano, Gramolazzo, in the municipality of Minucciano, Vagli, in the municipality of Vagli di Sotto, and finally Isola Santa in the municipality of Careggine. The event is promoted and organized by A.S.D. Pinocchio Extreme with local coordination between institutions and for promotional purposes of the Union of Garfagnana Municipalities. Two main routes and three timed climbs are planned. The routes will be divided into medium, 71.93 kilometers long and with a height difference of 1,688 m above sea level, and long, 99.32 km and 2,293 m above sea level. of altitude difference. The timed climbs will be divided as follows: the first, the Orecchiella one, will follow a route of 5.37 kilometres, for a total of 390 m above sea level. in altitude, and there is a medium and a long route (timing: 8.15am – 9.00am); the second, that of Campocatino, will be 2.97 km and 230 m above sea level. of altitude difference, also in this case with a medium and long route (timing: 9:15 – 10:30); finally the third, that of Careggine, of 6.82 km and 401 m above sea level. of altitude difference, in this case with only a long route (timing: 9:45 – 11:45). As regards the hill climbs, the first three men and the first three women on each route will be rewarded; numerous prizes are then provided for the category winners. The event will guarantee a series of services for the safety and comfort of participants, among which the 'pasta party' managed by the Associazione Autieri d'Italia Sez. stands out.
