Giungla is a contemporary art festival and an opportunity to meet and discuss the complex link between human beings, nature, cultural identity and technology. The second part of the 5th edition of the festival, from 14 to 17 November, continues the discussion around the concept of Root and its drifts of meaning.
The need to find a balance between attachment to one's land and one's traditions, and the desire to migrate, to break with one's past to build a (better?) future elsewhere is increasingly strong everywhere. Added to the migratory flows of people fleeing from war and poverty are expats, remote workers, those who wanted to break with their routine, quit their jobs and live in other countries and cultures.
The difficult balance between being rooted and radical, between tradition and innovation, between fixity and openness to change, raises questions related to the acceptance of what is different, to the translation of past themes with the perspective of today.
A rich program addresses these themes through meetings, book presentations, workshops and artistic performances, which will be held in various places in the historic centre: the church of Santa Caterina, the Casermetta San Regolo, the State Library of Lucca, the San Micheletto Auditorium and the church of the Agora Civic Library.
