The Canadian artist returns to Lucca after 11 years of absence, the last participation on the LSF stage was in the 2013 edition. It will therefore be an opportunity for the public to listen to all his successes together with the songs from the latest album " This Dream of You,” released in 2020.
This latest album sees Krall in a quartet with colleagues and historical collaborators: John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton and Anthony Wilson in “Almost Like Being In Love” and “That's All”, as well as in a trio with Christian McBride and Russell Malone in “Autumn in New York” and “There’s No You.”
The duets include an extraordinary first-take of “I Wished On The Moon” with Krall and John Clayton and two recordings – “More Than You Know” and “Don't Smoke In Bed” – featuring Alan Broadbent on piano, also author of the orchestration for “But Beautiful” as well as the string arrangement for “Autumn In New York.”
The last recording session for this album took place at Capitol Studios, with an ensemble including guitarist Marc Ribot, Stuart Duncan on violin and a rhythm section composed of Tony Garnier on double bass and Karriem Riggins on drums. This lineup recorded “Just You, Just Me”, the aforementioned “How Deep Is The Ocean” by Irving Berlin and the Bob Dylan song “This Dream Of You”, in which Randall Krall plays the accordion.
Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to have seen nine of her albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. To date, his albums have earned five Grammy Awards, ten Juno Awards and earned nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum records.
Born in British Columbia, Canada, Diana Krall grew up in an environment that loved the arts and absorbed the love of music from an early age. At a very young age, thanks to a hand-wound gramophone, she discovered the works of various musicians. At 15 he earned his first job as a pianist in a club in his city; from that moment, she increasingly received the opportunity to come into contact with great musicians who have taught her a lot over the years: as generous as they were kind, today she remembers these characters from whom she learned a lot and with whom she had the opportunity to play, and makes homage to them with his art and music.
